Autumn in Hokkaido

Luring environment of Autumn in Hokkaido, a rare and pleasant, but very short.

The speciality of Hokkaido is, it not only have snow, but probably the longest winter in Japan. It starts snowing in December in full fledge, continuously till mid March. Taking advantage of this lengthened period, people celebrate it as festival. The annual 'Sapporo Snow Festival' is the most famous winter festival in Japan attracting many people from all over the world. This festival is  held in early February and lasts about a week. Many large small snow statues are exhibited in different places of Sapporo during this.

Nepal stall was placed again in the International Food Festival of Hokkaido University representing taste from Nepal with curry, rice, milk tea and more.

After long lasting Winter and Snow, the Spring in Hokkaido is more than expected. Nepalese students at Hokkaido University welcomed Autumn with Sakura by organizing Sports with Barbeque event followed by Hanami celebration.

Researchers and students in Hokkaido University marched for a peaceful demonstration around the centre of Sapporo city urging for the peaceful solution of current situation of the country.

Hokkaido University International Students' Association (HUISA) organized a cultural program consisting of songs and dances by international students in Hokkaido University followed by a fashion show of the traditional dress of their country to introduce the culture of different countries to the Japanese and other International students. HUNSA also participated on behalf of Nepal.

Hokudaisai, i.e. annual food festival of Hokkaido University. HUNSA placed 'Nepalese stall' serving with its typical Khare-Rice, Milk Tea, Momo, and Pakauda. A small stand with typical Nepali items Chura, Pote, Tika, different Masalas, and costumes from Nepal pulled almost all the passers by towards it.

HUNSA organized the great Hindu festival Bada Dashain, which was seen at its all-time high joyfulness as usual gorkhalis’ get-together in Hokkaido. Nepalese students, researchers and those residing in Sapporo with some Japanese guests enjoyed the celebration with profound gratification.
